Original collage art - YOLO
YOLO is a unique collage work created with acrylic paint and recycled paper materials. YOLO combines sustainable art, strong symbolism and an intuitive process into an expression that speaks directly to those seeking art with meaning.
“YOLO”: You Only Live Once, is a call and a reminder of the transience and speed of life, which is why the importance of daring to be genuine and come into the light as who you are becomes even more relevant. This is precisely where the energy, courage and existential reflection reside, which collide in the work. At first glance, the work invites the viewer into a colorful and blooming universe, but beneath the surface lies a call disguised as a blooming hope. YOLO is often associated with spontaneity and impulsive choices, but in this work this is transformed into a quiet and powerful invitation to live authentically and live consciously.
The collage consists of recycled paper materials, which together create a symbolism about the confrontation with the dark sides and hence the contrasts in life, freedom and limitation, dream and reality, light and darkness. In the midst of all this, the individual, you and me, finds themselves in an attempt to find meaning and direction in a world that often makes more noise than it listens.
SYMBOLISM & MESSAGES
- The Moon is connected to the feminine aspect, intuition and thus the subconscious. The moon therefore also represents our shadow sides; the unconscious patterns that we do not always have access to, which is why it is sometimes difficult to make decisions because not everything is fully illuminated. In this process, we must walk the path of “trials” to get to know ourselves better. A journey that often offers a little bit of everything, as it strongly relies on transformation and the processes that typically accompany it.
- The face is another of my favorite motifs. Here you can really flex your muscles as a collage artist. Out of her face pours a flora of flowers, which I associate with growth, abundance, light, hope and optimism. It is about making decisions and taking them at heart level. The face also functions as a portal between the inside and the outside. In this work, as in many of my other works, the face with the flowers pouring out creates a kind of interior exterior. What we normally hide behind our eyes, skin and facial expressions now explodes into a multitude of flowers; as self inner blossoming, vulnerable and proud at the same time.
- The flowers also symbolizes a blooming potential and something that grows out of life experience. Some of the flowers are light, others darker and deeper in color. This illustrates the tension between joy and sorrow, hope and pain. As if she wears his experiences as ornaments, and dare to show them.
- The butterfly (and its wings) is a classic symbol of transformation; the transformation from caterpillar to chrysalis to a winged creature flying freely in the higher air. You have freed yourself from the heavy chains around your ankles and can fly freely wherever you want in both your life and existence in general.
- The color red symbolizes passion, power and firepower.
- Mixed media; I often work with backgrounds that are designed with acrylic paint and various techniques. I often experiment with different elements that are found in the household. On this background I have made prints with a balloon and a stamp carved from wood.
The message YOLO is quite simple: Go with what is you!
Original collage art with a message and sustainability
Intuition is my strongest tool both as a creative person and as an artist. My collages are often created from a motif that I find exciting. I let the motif show me the way and follow the inner dialogue that arises in relation to the other paper fragments and materials.
I believe that true works of art emerge when you let go of control and let the deeper, unconscious layers emerge. YOLO is a great example of how my collages often balance between spontaneous expression and the symbolism that automatically arises in that process. There is something immediate and at the same time very layered and reflective in this process, a bit like life itself.
